Pol by Jammilicious Pol by Jammilicious
An updated image from a bunch of illustrations I did years ago based on David Edding's characters from his Belgariad and Mallorean series.

This is Polgara, during the brief time in her life when she becomes a Nadrak dancing woman.

Textures are from [link] and [link]

Ooh, and I also used a picture of Angelina Jolie as a reference because I've always thought if a film was ever made, she'd make a rather good Pol.

P.S someone did point out to me that the white lock is on the wrong side of her head but i'm just too lazy to correct it atm sorry. :)

Drawn and painted in Photoshop CS1 with an A4 Wacom Intuos3
Polgara© of David Eddings

I love this, (mostly) but I think her expression is a bit bullish. Maybe not the best word to describe it, but still. Also, please don't think of Angelina Jolie as an actor/actress. She's bigheaded, and she doesn't act- she appears. I want the film to be made, but they'll need actors, not Angelina Jolie.

I think Durnik might faint if he ever saw this picture.

I've posted before but I just had to say this after reading it in your description. I don't think it matters which side of the face the white brow lock falls down on or even if it falls down evenly on each side of the face. I always had the impression that Polgara had one of those widow's peak hairlines that come down to a point in the middle...perhaps not a very prominent widow's peak, but a widow's peak none-the-less. And I've always fancied that Pol's white brow lock was smack bang in the center of the widow's peak so as to emphasize it I suppose. In my mind Pol has always been an exotic beauty. So in short anyway, I don't think you need to feel apologetic about that detail :) And yes, it's an awesome piece of artwork :thumsup:

Awesome! I'm actually just finishing up Pawn of Prophesy. Then it's on to the rest of the series, followed by the Mallorean, Belgarath the Sorcerer, Polgara the Sorceress, and finally The Rivan Codex. :) My favorite books.

Wow that's such a cool painting. It looks like traditional art, but it's digital! I like her outfit, it looks like real fabric.. and her pose, beautiful. I like her stern facial expression... it looks cocky, yet intriguing.

Good job on this one :D

.... um sorry it took me a long time to respond...

... i have just finished reading Polgara the Sorceress and i loved the part wherein she disguised herself as a Nadrak woman. When i looked at this work, it was what i had imagined her to be.. wearing the same clothes...

.... well, except for the Ulgo knives...

.. really sorry for commenting like that... ^^;

Oh no don't worry about it, I'm always happy to get a comment anyways ^_^.

I'm really glad that's how you imagined her ^_^. I know she should have another dagger in her boots but I wanted to give her something more feminine so I went for strappies and she would have ended up losing her shoes if she'd stuck one down there :(... plus I'm never very good at drawing weaponry so I wanted as little of it as possible hehe.
